The SRG/ILS Group is excited to welcome UB40!

January 14, 2021 by srg records

The SRG/ILS Group is excited to welcome UB40! The original Reggae/Rock band who sold over 70 million albums world-wide is back with a new album and tour! Before there was No Doubt there was UB40.  Before there was Sublime, there was UB40.  Before any of the dozens and dozens of Ska, Reggae, and Jam bands bombarded the music scene with their version of Reggae inspired Rock, there was UB40.

With 50 singles in the UK Singles Chart, 7 Billboard Hot 100 singles including 2 Number Ones, multiple Gold and Platinum selling albums and constant touring and recording, UB40 returns with a new album and a 2021 world tour set to hit the US and beyond later this summer and fall.

UB40 came together as a group of friends from the working class city of Birmingham, England in 1978.  The band’s name was famously derived from the form needed to file for unemployment benefits.

They burst onto the scene in 1980 with their debut album and an opening slot on tour with Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders.  Even before their breakout hit, “Red Red Wine” in 1983, the band first two albums became part of the soundtrack to the turbulent times in Margaret Thatcher’s UK. For reference just watch the latest season of the Crown on Netflix.

With massive hit songs like “Red Red Wine“, “Can’t Help Falling In Love“, “I Got You Babe” featuring Chrissie Hynde, “Food For Thought“, and “Here I Am“, UB40 is a household name around the world. Millions of fans will be excited for new music from one of their favorite bands coming this spring 2021.
