The SRG/ILS Group is pleased to announce a new partnership with iconic British band Kula Shaker and their imprint Strangefolk Records. The SRG/ILS partnership will be representing the band and their January 2024 album ‘NATURAL MAGICK’ in North and South America.
Known for their original influence of traditional Indian music, culture and mysticism, the band found exceptional commercial success in the UK and throughout the world with the release of their debut album ‘K’ in 1996. That album produced 5 Top 5 singles including ‘HEY DUDE, ‘TATTVA’ and ‘GOVINDA’ and became the fastest selling debut album in the UK to that point. It also led to Kula Shaker opening for Oasis at the legendary Knebworth concerts, a further 4 Top 10 hit singles, 2 Brit Awards, platinum selling albums, and a huge sync with ‘Hush’ appearing in the smash movie ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’.
After a hiatus, occasional reunions, and several solo projects including Hammond Organ player Jay Darlington joining Oasis for 10 years, and bassist Alonza Bevan spending 5 years with The Smiths’ Johnny Marr, the band’s original line-up reformed permanently in 2022. The classic line up of Crispian Mills, Alonza Bevan, Paul Winterhart, and Jay Darlington had not recorded together since 1998 but they instantly recaptured their special chemistry on the much-anticipated upcoming album ‘NATURAL MAGICK’ – slated for release in January 2024. The album was recorded in between touring in early 2023 in the same style as ‘K’ delivering all their renewed wild energy that fans know and love. The album was produced in Brighton, England by Crispian Mills and Kev Nixon.
“We all agreed to make this album a Kula Shaker fan’s dream. It was very similar to the way we recorded K, back when we only had half an hour to blow people away and recording much of it in-between shows while touring.” explains Crispian Mills of the band’s approach to the sound of the album.
‘NATURAL MAGICK’ has a mesmeric 13-track incantation incorporating blazing psychedelic sermons, raga rave-ups, stardust-coated pop pearls and mood- enhancing mantras, it is a technicolor sonic pathway towards a more enlightened state of mind.
